Convicted Child Rapist Nabbed After Sending Sex Video to Fake 12-Year-Old
A convicted child rapist and woman beater was caught red-handed by paedophile hunters after he sent a video of himself having sex to what he thought was a 12-year-old girl online.
Paedophile Hunter Sets the Trap
The 30-year-old predator, McKinney, had already served two-and-a-half years of a five-year sentence. He returned to court after admitting he sent gross and indecent messages to an “Amber”-themed WhatsApp account last August.
But Amber wasn’t a child – it was an online trap run by a vigilant paedophile hunter. McKinney appeared stunned when arrested and has now been remanded in custody until sentencing later this year.
Desperate Messages and a Reckless Confession
Using WhatsApp, McKinney sent a video of himself having sex with a woman. He then bombarded the fake 12-year-old with messages, pleading for private photos. When the decoy said they’d be embarrassed to share, he kept pushing.
The hunter confronted McKinney at his home on Benvie Road the next day. Reportedly, McKinney told him, “I knew you’d show up,” adding that he felt terrible about his actions.
Dark Past and Ongoing Danger
- McKinney is on the sex offenders register.
- In 2012, he was convicted of child rape at Aberdeen High Court after attacking a sleeping victim in Dundee.
- In 2018, he beat a former partner just months after being released.
- He admitted sending obscene messages to a child under 13 in August 2021.
His sentence was postponed until September 29. Meanwhile, police will have full access to search his computer and phone.
The judge warned the public to stay vigilant as McKinney remains behind bars awaiting justice.
