Tragic Hit-and-Run: Cyclist Leaves 72-Year-Old Pedestrian to Die
Police rushed to Bow Road near Thames Magistrates’ Court at 5:05pm on Friday, 3 July, following a collision between a cyclist and a pedestrian.
Victim Dies After Serious Head Injuries
Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service treated 72-year-old Peter McCombie at the scene before rushing him to hospital in critical condition. He sadly died on Saturday, 11 July, from his head injuries.
Cyclist Flees Scene; Police Hunting Witnesses
The cyclist did not stop and has yet to be caught. No arrests have been made, and inquiries are ongoing.
Detective Inspector Julie Trodden said: “I urge anyone near Bow Road around 5pm on 3 July who saw the collision or events before and after to get in touch. Dashcam or helmet cam footage could be key to cracking this case.”
“I also appeal directly to the cyclist to come forward and help provide answers to the victim’s grieving family.”
“Peter was active and still working past retirement age. This tragic incident cut his life short.”
