Tragedy on Raymond Road: Young Man Shot Dead in East London

Police rushed to Raymond Road, E13, just before 11pm on Wednesday, 18 August, after reports of a shooting.

Officers and paramedics found a 20-year-old man with a gunshot wound. He was rushed to hospital in critical condition but sadly died two days later. The victim has been named as Otas Sarkus.

Second Victim Found Injured on Bus

The drama didn’t end there. Police were called to a Route 238 bus on Plashet Grove where they found an 18-year-old man also suffering from gunshot injuries. Luckily, his wounds are not life-threatening and he remains in hospital.

Investigation Underway – Police Appeal for Dashcam Footage

Detective Chief Inspector Linda Bradley expressed her condolences: “Our heartfelt thoughts are with Otas’ family and friends at this time.”

She revealed the shooting happened in a busy residential area and urged the public to help officers identify suspects. Police are specifically looking for any dashcam or CCTV footage showing white Volvo SUVs or 4x4s in Upton Park and Forest Gate between 10pm and 11pm on Wednesday.

A crime scene is still in place. No arrests have been made yet as inquiries continue.
