Pregnant Mum and Baby Murdered in Chilling Night Attack: Detectives Return for Witness Hunt
Detectives are back on the case a week after the brutal double homicide of pregnant Kelly Mary Fauvrelle and her baby son, Riley, in Thornton Heath. They’re scouring the area around Kelly’s home in Raymead Avenue for crucial witnesses and calling on the public to identify a mystery man caught on CCTV near the scene.
Desperate Search for Man on CCTV
Investigators are urgently trying to trace a man seen on CCTV walking towards Kelly’s home before the attack and sprinting away about 10 minutes later. Detective Chief Inspector Mick Norman, leading the probe, said:
“I know the footage doesn’t show a clear face, but somebody will recognise his build, his walk, or his run. Whether you saw him near Raymead Avenue, on London Road, or anywhere in Thornton Heath last Friday night or early Saturday morning, I need to hear from you.”
Officers will be talking to people around Kelly’s address and nearby London Road in the early hours of Saturday, 6 July, hoping to speak with anyone who was out and about at the time.
The Tragic Crime Scene
Kelly, 26, was found stabbed to death in her bedroom just after 3am on 29 June. She was eight months pregnant. Paramedics delivered baby Riley at the scene, but heartbreakingly he passed away days later on 3 July.
Kelly’s family, who heard screams but didn’t see the attack, are devastated. No forced entry was found but the house may have been left unsecured. A cot had been set up for Riley in the bedroom where Kelly was attacked.
Suspects and Ongoing Investigation
- A 37-year-old and a 29-year-old man were arrested in connection with the murders.
- One man was released without charge; the other bailed until August.
- No murder weapon has been found yet, and forensic work is ongoing.
DCI Norman said:
“We are keeping an open mind about whether Kelly knew her attacker. Our priority is building a full picture of Kelly’s life and who she had contact with. Anyone who knew her and hasn’t spoken to police, please come forward.”
