Two men charged with murder and gun offences after fatal stabbing and shooting in East London
Awadh Saleh and Rio Burton-Devine in court over brutal attack
Awadh Saleh, 24, from Plaistow, faces multiple serious charges including murder, attempted murder, two counts of firearm possession with intent to endanger life, and carrying a bladed weapon. He appeared on Thursday, 13 April and is due back at magistrates’ court on Thursday, 4 May.
Rio Burton-Devine, 24, of Islington, was charged on Tuesday, 18 April with murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life. He is also scheduled to appear at Thames Magistrates’ Court on 4 May.
Fatal attack in Coolfin Road leaves victim dead
Police and paramedics were called to Coolfin Road, E16, shortly before 2.45pm on 26 April 2021 after reports of a man injured in a vicious assault. At the scene, officers found Junior suffering from knife wounds and later discovered he had been shot as well.
Despite immediate medical efforts, Junior tragically died at the scene.

Detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command are investigating connections between this murder and a shooting incident on Tree Road, Newham, that happened on 22 April 2021. Some of the suspects charged are believed to be involved in both cases.
