Man Charged with Murder After Woman Found Dead in SE9
Ricky Woodford Held Over Woman’s Death
Ricky Woodford, 41, of Henwick Road, SE9, was charged with murder on Wednesday, 4 November. He appeared at Bromley Magistrates’ Court the same day and has been remanded in custody.
Body Discovered After Welfare Check
Police were called just after 10am on Friday, 30 October over concerns for the occupants at a home in Henwick Road. Officers found the body of a woman inside the property.
Although formal ID is pending, officers believe the deceased is 39-year-old Sarah Smith of Greenwich. Her next of kin have been informed and are receiving specialist support.
Cause of Death Confirmed as Head Injuries
A post-mortem at Greenwich Mortuary on Sunday, 1 November revealed Sarah Smith died from head injuries. Woodford was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and was taken to hospital before entering police custody.
Relationship and Investigation
Woodford and Ms Smith were known to each other. The Metropolitan Police Specialist Crime Command (Homicide) are leading the investigation.
