Murder Charges Laid After East London Stabbing
Man Charged Over Fatal Hackney Attack
Mawien Mawien, 38, from Portland Close, Romford, faces murder charges alongside Section 18 wounding and possession of a bladed article offences. He is set to appear at Highbury Magistrates Court on Friday, 24 February.
Fatal Stabbing Outside Nightclub
Police launched a probe after two men arrived at an east London hospital with stab wounds at around 4:30am on Saturday, 11 February. Despite desperate efforts, 26-year-old Trei Daley from Bromley was pronounced dead. He was attacked near the Colour Factory nightclub in Queen’s Yard, off White Post Lane, Hackney Wick.
A post-mortem on 14 February confirmed Trei’s cause of death as a stab wound to the chest. The second victim, aged 24, was treated and discharged on the same day.
Second Suspect in Custody, Trial Date Set
Christopher Appiah-Blay, 35, of Wick Road, Hackney, was charged on 14 February with murder and possession of an offensive weapon. He appeared at Willesden Magistrates’ Court that day and was remanded in custody.
The trial for these serious charges is scheduled for 2 April 2024 at the Old Bailey.
