Jake Henderson Jailed for Racist Rant at Home Secretary
Jake Henderson hit the headlines after a Snapchat video went viral in January showing him hurling vile racist abuse at Home Secretary Priti Patel. The shocking footage sparked outrage nationwide.
Accomplice Also Sent to Prison for Sharing Hate
Robert Cumming, who reposted the video with the caption “Haters gonna be hating,” was also handed a jail term. Both men faced prison for stirring hateful content online.
More Hate Speech and Far-Right Links Unearthed
Henderson claimed the outburst was a one-off, but other social media posts soon surfaced showing deeply racist, homophobic, and sexist language. Investigators also found an English Defence League hoodie at his home, and he admitted attending a far-right rally.
Sentenced to Jail with Fines
On Thursday, District Judge Andrew Meachin sentenced Henderson to ten weeks behind bars and Cumming to six weeks. Both must pay a £128 surcharge on release.
Chief Crown Prosecutor Janine Smith said: “This video and the vile sentiments expressed targeted individuals and communities and caused widespread distress and concern. As this is a hate crime, we applied to uplift the sentence and the court has taken this on board by passing an immediate custodial sentence instead of a suspended sentence.”
