Police Stunned by Van Packed with 1,000 Litres of Diesel
Police were left gobsmacked after stopping a tiny Citroën Berlingo van carrying a whopping 1,000 litres of diesel sloshing around unsecured in the back.
Routine Stop Uncovers Shocking Fuel Haul
The van was pulled over during standard checks when officers quickly realised it was hauling a huge amount of fuel in extremely unsafe conditions.
“Apparently, it’s perfectly normal to drive around in a little Berlingo van with 1,000 litres of diesel swishing away in the back… The driver is now helping us out with a few enquiries. Let’s hope he kept the receipts!” police joked.
Major Safety Nightmare
Carrying so much fuel without proper safety measures is a recipe for disaster. The risks include fires, spills, and potentially deadly explosions if there’s a crash.
Regulations demand fuel be transported in certified, secure containers with proper ventilation — none of which the van had.
Driver Under Investigation
Police have taken the driver in for questioning. Investigations are underway to find out:
- Whether the diesel was legally sourced.
- If the driver had the necessary permits and licences.
- If any other offences took place, including road safety and environmental breaches.
Fuel Thefts on the Rise Amid Soaring Prices
With fuel costs soaring, incidents involving large diesel hauls have surged. Cops are cracking down hard on fuel theft, illegal transport, and black-market sales.
Authorities warn businesses and individuals to stick to the rules or face heavy fines and criminal charges.
