Drug Dealer Jailed After Daring Custody Escape
A drug dealer who made a dramatic dash from custody has finally been locked up.
Chaos in Soham: The Arrest and Escape
Reece Reddington, 36, was first arrested on March 17 after fleeing from officers in Celandine View, Soham. He was caught hiding in a garage. Officers spotted him tossing a mobile phone into a nearby garden. The device was loaded with hundreds of messages linked to drug dealing.
Just two days later, while hospitalised and still in police custody, Reddington made a break for it, sprinting from the hospital despite police efforts to stop him.
On the Run—Then Back Behind Bars
The fugitive, who has no fixed address, was found and re-arrested in Fordham two weeks later. Justice caught up with him at Peterborough Crown Court on Friday, May 31, where he was sentenced to two years in jail. He’d pleaded guilty to supplying class B drugs and escaping lawful custody.
Police Warning: No Tolerance For Drug Crime
“Reddington initially ran from officers to evade arrest, and then later, while under arrest, unlawfully left the hospital. He’s now got two years to think about the consequences of his actions,” said Detective Constable Jess Freeman, who handled the case. “There is no place for drug dealing and associated criminality in our county.”
