Eco-Activist Maddie Budd Arrested for Shocking Captain Tom Moore Memorial Attack

Maddie Budd, 21, a former medical student turned full-time eco-warrior, has been arrested after pouring human faeces over a memorial to Captain Sir Tom Moore in Hatton, Derbyshire. The stunt, aimed at protesting private jet use, has stirred public outrage and left Budd facing criminal damage charges.

Vile Protest Stuns Nation

Footage shows Budd dousing the revered World War II veteran’s memorial, who famously raised £33 million for the NHS during the pandemic, with urine and faeces. The attack happened on September 30 and was quickly condemned as “abhorrent.” Budd filmed herself committing the act while wearing a “End UK Private Jets” T-shirt.

“Every time one [private jet] takes off, it pours a bucket of sh*t and blood onto everything Captain Tom stood for,” Budd declared in a video attempting to justify the vile protest.

Judge Orders Custody, Citing Risk of Repeat Crime

Budd pleaded guilty at Westminster Magistrates Court. District Judge Louisa Cieciora described the offence as “heinous” and indicated an 18-month prison sentence as the likely starting point. Budd was denied bail due to a “substantial risk” she may reoffend and will remain in custody pending sentencing on October 25.

Family Shocked and Ashamed

Her father, Jim Budd, an award-winning glazier, expressed deep embarrassment and heartbreak over his daughter’s actions.

“I felt sick with shock when I saw it. I sent her a text message, but she has not responded. She has gone rogue,” he told MailOnline.

“Sir Tom was a national hero. This desecration is heartbreaking and has upset many.

“Her intentions might be genuine but misguided. Such extreme measures are shocking and not the way to win support.”

Maddie previously protested with Extinction Rebellion and abandoned her medical career to campaign full-time on climate issues. Police say she was arrested at a protest in London, escorted by 18 officers.

Captain Tom Moore: Nation’s Beloved Hero

Captain Sir Tom Moore, who died in February 2021 aged 100, became a symbol of hope in the Covid-19 crisis by walking laps in his garden to raise money for the NHS. Knighted by the Queen, his legacy inspired millions — making Budd’s act all the more shocking.

Derbyshire Police continue investigating, having received the incriminating footage from the company that made the memorial.
