Eight individuals, including one adult, have been arrested by detectives investigating a disorder outside St Joseph’s Catholic College in Swindon on Tuesday (12/03). The arrests were made on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent following a concerning attack on a 14-year-old boy.
The incident occurred at approximately 3:15 pm, during which the victim sustained injuries that, thankfully, were not life-threatening.
Six of the arrested individuals have been released on conditional bail, pending further inquiries. Additionally, two further arrests were made today (14/03), also on suspicion of GBH with intent. The ages of those arrested range from 12 to 18, and all are male.
Detective Inspector Phillippa Sharpley expressed deep concern over the attack, particularly highlighting the use of weapons by some of the assailants. She emphasized that such violence, especially outside a school while children were living with their parents, will not be tolerated. The victim required hospital treatment following the assault.
Sharpley reassured the community that the incident is being dealt with robustly and with the full force of the law. She urged anyone who witnessed the attack or possesses mobile phone footage of the incident to come forward urgently.
