Eltham Man Jailed for Six and a Half Years After Converted Gun Found in Sock
Daniel Bryan, from Stofield Gardens, Eltham, has been locked up for six and a half years after Kent Police uncovered a converted firearm hidden in a sock during a vehicle stop in Maidstone.
Modified Pistol Seized in Vehicle Stop
On 30 July 2024, officers stopped a car travelling from Brixton along Ashford Road in Maidstone. During the search, they found a starter pistol that had been illegally altered to fire live ammunition. The weapon was cunningly concealed inside a sock, raising alarms about its potential use in violent crime.
Authorities warn that converted firearms like this pose a significant threat, often linked to gang violence and other criminal activity.
Six and a Half Years Behind Bars
Bryan was charged and convicted of firearm offences. At court, he received a hefty six-and-a-half-year prison sentence.
“This was a dangerous weapon modified for criminal use,” a Kent Police spokesperson said. “Thanks to the proactive work of our officers, it was removed from the streets before it could cause harm.”
“The sentence reflects the seriousness of firearm offences. We remain committed to tackling illegal weapons in Kent and beyond.”
