Family’s Heartbreaking Plea on 10th Anniversary of Ola Raji’s Murder
It’s been 10 years since 21-year-old student Ola Raji was fatally shot and stabbed while cycling home in Peckham. Today, his family makes a fresh, emotional appeal for justice, urging anyone with information to finally come forward.
Brutal Attack in East Surrey Grove
On the night of April 21, 2015, Ola was cycling through the East Surrey Grove estate near Commercial Way, after watching a Champions League match between Bayern Munich and Porto at a friend’s house. He was ambushed by two men in a savage, senseless attack. Despite emergency efforts, Ola died in hospital.
Family’s Emotional Message: “A Painful Reminder of 10 Years of Loss”
“This is a painful reminder of 10 years of loss – our family is not going to get that time back. There are children who never got to know their uncle. The laughter we share is a little less loud. There’s a smile missing from our photographs.” – Zainab Raji and Ruki Ware, Ola’s sisters
The sisters warned that the killers could strike again. “Just one small piece of evidence could finally lead to justice.”
Police Still Hunting Key Witnesses
Detective Chief Inspector Alex Gammampila, leading the probe, called Ola “an innocent man, in the wrong place at the worst time.” New leads suggest suspects fled on foot via a cut-through from Cator Street to Rosemary Road and Surrey Canal Path.
Police want to speak to:
- A woman driving a black Vauxhall Corsa in the area between 9:45pm and 11pm
- Two men seen returning to Pear Court at 11:10pm
Crimestoppers Offer £20,000 Reward
Alexa Loukas, London Regional Manager at Crimestoppers, urged the community: “If you know something but fear speaking to police, contact us anonymously. We never ask for your name and cannot trace your call.”
They’re offering up to £20,000 for information that leads to a conviction.
