Man Charged with Murder of Bury Woman
A community in shock after 31-year-old Stephen Ball from Pear Avenue, Bury, was charged with the murder of 55-year-old Susanne Galvin. Ball has been remanded in police custody and is due in Manchester Magistrates Court on Thursday, 21 September 2023.
Investigation Ongoing as Woman Released on Bail
A 41-year-old woman was released on police bail on the night of 19 September as the investigation into Susanne’s murder continues. Police remain tight-lipped but stress the case is active and urgent.
Family Pays Heartfelt Tribute
Susanne’s family spoke out following the tragedy: “Susanne was greatly loved by her parents and family and will be sadly missed. As a family, we respectfully ask to be allowed privacy during this difficult time.”
Police Appeal for Public Help
Detective Chief Inspector Mark Davis said, “Our thoughts are with the family during this incredibly difficult time. Specialist officers are supporting them, and we have officers in the area to reassure the worried local community.”
He revealed the key timeline police are focusing on: “We believe the person or persons responsible were on foot on Saturday, 16th September, between 6pm and 9.30pm, around Pear Avenue, Cherry Avenue, Walnut Avenue, Thompson Drive, Topping Fold Road, and Hewart Drive.”
DCI Davis urged anyone with information, no matter how small, to come forward immediately.
