Blaze Breaks Out on 11th Floor of Walthamstow Tower Block
A fierce fire erupted late Monday night on the 11th floor of Northwood Tower, a residential high-rise on Marlowe Road, Walthamstow. Sources at the scene say a resident may still be trapped inside.
Firefighters Race to the Scene
The London Fire Brigade was called out just after 11.20pm. Multiple fire engines, police, and paramedics from the London Ambulance Service rushed to the East London site.
Special HART teams from the ambulance service were dispatched but ended up standing down. Witnesses reported thick smoke billowing from the upper floors as firefighters in breathing apparatus charged inside with hoses.
Major Effort to Tackle 11th-Floor Blaze
Crews hooked up the building’s dry riser system, pumping high pressure water to fight the flames. Several residents had already self-evacuated before emergency services arrived.
One man was treated by paramedics at the scene and taken to hospital. No official updates on casualties have been released.
Fire Investigators Scramble to Find Cause
The cause of the blaze is not yet known. Fire brigade sources say it started on the balcony. Specialist investigators are now on site to get to the bottom of it.
Police and fire chiefs are urging locals to stay away from the area and follow official instructions while the incident unfolds.
