Young Man Fatally Stabbed in Westminster Knife Attack
Detectives have named the victim of a brutal daylight stabbing in Westminster as 21-year-old Omar Abdullah. Police were called to Lilestone Street, NW8, at 3.23pm on Monday, 28 November, after reports of a stabbing.
Two Men Found with Stab Wounds – One Dead, One Critical
Officers, along with London Ambulance Service and Air Ambulance crews, arrived to find two men suffering stab wounds. Despite emergency services’ efforts, Omar Abdullah died at the scene. His family has been informed and is receiving specialist support. A post-mortem will be scheduled shortly.
The other victim, aged 20, was rushed to hospital and remains in critical condition.
Third Man Injured in Related Incident
Later that day, a third man, also 21, sought hospital treatment for a hand injury believed connected to the stabbing. His condition is not considered serious.
Murder Probe Underway – Police Urge Witnesses to Come Forward
Detective Chief Inspector Brian Howie is leading the murder investigation. He said:
“A young man has died, leaving family and friends devastated. Another fights for his life because of knife crime on our streets. We have experienced detectives piecing together what happened but urgently need public help.
“This unfolded in broad daylight on Lilestone Street. Many people might have witnessed the event or captured images or video on phones or dashcams. If you were nearby, please speak to officers on scene or contact police confidentially. We need to bring those responsible to justice and give Omar’s family answers.”
Detective Chief Superintendent Owain Richards, Westminster’s local policing commander, added:
“I understand the shock this tragic killing has caused in the community. Specialist detectives are working fast to find those responsible. You will see increased police patrols in the area while we gather vital evidence.”
