Oxfordshire Man Jailed for Raping Girl and Taking Indecent Images

Ian Bailey, 56, from Oxfordshire, has been handed a massive 25-year sentence after a jury found him guilty of raping a child and taking indecent photographs.

Guilty of Multiple Child Sex Offences

Bailey pleaded guilty to engaging in sexual activity with a girl and taking indecent images of a child. He denied four counts of child rape but was unanimously convicted by the jury at Oxford Crown Court on 10 February.

Yesterday (4 April), Bailey returned for sentencing and was slammed with 19 years in prison, plus an additional six years on licence.

Horrific Abuse Spanning Years

The court heard Bailey subjected the victim to repeated rape and sexual assaults across various locations in Oxfordshire. He also took indecent photographs, adding to the horrific abuse.

Bailey was arrested last July and charged in August.

Police Praise Victim’s Bravery

“Bailey’s horrendous acts took place over a number of years and had a devastating impact on the victim,” said Detective Constable Phil Rowles of the Child Abuse Investigation Unit. “The victim and her family have shown incredible bravery and resolve in coming forward. I hope this sentence helps provide some closure so they can move forward.” “I want to encourage anyone affected by abuse to come forward – no matter how much time has passed. We are committed to bringing offenders to justice.”
