M3 Chaos: Lorry Breakdown Dumps 600 Litres of Diesel Across Road
The M3 eastbound in Hampshire is shut between junctions 10 and 9 near Winchester after a lorry’s drive shaft snapped off and ruptured its fuel tank.
The spill unleashed a huge 600 litres of diesel all over the carriageway. To make matters worse, another vehicle crashed into the stray drive shaft, causing even more disruption.
Massive Delays and Diversions in Place
Drivers are being forced off the motorway. Follow the solid black diamond symbol for the diversion route:
- Exit the M3 at J10.
- At the roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto the A31.
- At the next roundabout, take the 2nd exit to keep north on the A31.
- At the roundabout with the A272, take the 1st exit to continue.
Avoid the Area if You Can
The cleanup will take some time, so expect delays. Motorists are urged to seek alternative routes and drive with caution near Winchester.
