Ex-Cop Pleads Guilty After Sharing Disturbing Crime Scene Snaps
Lewis Wood, a 42-year-old former Avon and Somerset police officer, has admitted three counts of misconduct in public office. The ex-cop shared sensitive images and videos from police incidents with his family and friends. Shockingly, some of the images included those of a deceased man.
Fired After Misconduct Comes to Light
Wood’s police career ended in 2021 following the shocking revelations. Assistant Chief Constable Joanne Hall slammed his actions.
“Lewis Wood’s decision to wilfully share sensitive images and videos to friends and family violated the trust members of the public put in him and us. His actions not only fell significantly below the standards we expect of officers but were criminal.”
Public Trust Shattered by Former Officer’s Actions
ACC Hall admitted Wood’s behaviour has badly damaged confidence in the police, even though he’s no longer on the force. The Counter Corruption Unit and Crown Prosecution Service investigated thoroughly, leading to strong charges and Wood’s guilty pleas at Exeter Crown Court on December 1.
Wood, from Bridgwater, is due to be sentenced at Exeter Crown Court on Friday, February 9.
