Ex-Teacher Jailed for Preying on Young Girls Online
Michael Pierce, 32, a former West Yorkshire teacher, has been locked up for six years after admitting to horrendous offences involving children under 13. Pierce pleaded guilty to coaxing a child into sexual activity, distributing indecent images, and other related crimes.
Posing as Teen to Trap Victims on Snapchat
Pierce duped young girls by pretending to be a 16-year-old boy from Leeds on Snapchat. He manipulated one victim into sending a nude photo. When she refused to send more, he threatened to share the image with her friends. Shockingly, he also sent this same photo to another girl and pressured her for explicit pictures.
Arrested While Still Teaching
Police tracked Pierce’s IP address, leading to his arrest in Wakefield in August 2021—while he was still employed as a teacher. The court handed down a six-year prison sentence. He’s now on the sex offender register for life and slapped with a lifetime Sexual Harm Prevention Order banning unsupervised contact with children.
Detectives Condemn Breach of Trust
“Pierce’s actions are a grave betrayal, especially given his role as an educator,” said Detective Sergeant Steven Sayles of the Wakefield Child Vulnerable to Exploitation Team. “While safeguards are now in place, the damage to victims is deeply troubling.”
The court hopes this conviction provides some closure to the traumatised girls caught up in Pierce’s vile crimes.
