Cop Brutally Attacked in Chichester Street Brawl
Police are hunting a young blonde woman after a vicious assault on a 31-year-old officer in Chichester city centre. The female suspect, described as white, slim, and in her late teens, was spotted wearing white jeans, a grey top, and knee-high black boots.
Officer Slammed During Attempt to Break Up Fight
The attack happened shortly after 10pm on Friday, 11 September, when the officer responded to a street fight in East Street. He was trying to help some young women caught up in the scuffle. After being assaulted, the officer chased the group on foot into nearby South Pallant — where he was punched and kicked again.
Teens Arrested After Quick-Thinking Bystanders Step In
- Three teenagers at the scene helped officers locate the injured cop and even helped detain a suspect.
- Three boys aged 16 and a 15-year-old girl were arrested for assault; two boys and the girl also face charges of obstructing police.
- One boy was later released without charge.
The officer was taken to St Richard’s Hospital and released later that night but remains off duty while recovering. Several others received hospital treatment following the incident.
Police Urge Public to Help Identify Woman
“This was an attack on a police officer doing his duty,” said Chief Inspector Jon Carter. “Thanks to the quick actions of other young people, further harm was prevented. Our officers responded swiftly and have made arrests. Enquiries continue.”
If you recognise the woman or have info, contact Sussex Police online or call 101, quoting serial 1468 of 14/09.
