Repeat Offender Banned Again After Speeding at 162mph
A disqualified driver caught racing at a terrifying 162mph on the A43 has been slapped with another three-month ban – just two months after losing his licence.
Speed Demon Flouts the Law Twice
Christopher Keith Debono, 62, from Northampton’s Windingbrook Lane, was initially banned for six months in September after his May speeding shocker. Despite the court’s maximum driving ban, he brazenly hit the roads again.
On November 5, Debono’s silver Porsche 911 Carrera triggered ANPR cameras in Northampton. When police stopped him in Bridge Street, he tried to dodge trouble by giving his brother’s name. But licence checks nailed his true identity.
Caught and Charged: More Jail Time and Fines
Debono pleaded guilty at Northampton Magistrates’ Court on November 6 to driving while disqualified and driving without valid insurance. He’s now banned for an extra three months and hit with a £114 victim surcharge plus £85 court costs.
Police Warn Against Dangerous, Illegal Driving
PC Michael Hollowell said: “Christopher Debono thought he was above the law. Driving without a licence or insurance isn’t just selfish – it’s dangerous. It offers no protection to him or other road users if a crash happens.” “Everyone has the right to get home safely. We’re serious about cracking down on reckless drivers who put lives at risk.”
Tragically, Northamptonshire saw 36 fatal crashes last year and 347 serious injuries from road collisions. Police urge drivers to think twice before breaking the law.
