Manhunt Ends as Brutal Attack Driver Jailed Over 10 Years
Planned Ambush Caught on Camera
Mohammed Hamid, 50, from Luton, has been locked up for more than a decade after acting as the getaway driver in a savage, premeditated assault. The victim, a 17-year-old boy, suffered horrific, life-changing injuries.
The attack unfolded in the early hours of 2 June 2022, when emergency services found the unconscious teenager beneath a railway bridge on Telford Way, Luton, at 1.20am.
Initially believed to be a hit-and-run victim, medics ruled this out after confirming the boy’s injuries were a traumatic brain injury with no sign of a collision. Bedfordshire Police launched a full-scale probe, uncovering CCTV footage in a nearby car park that exposed the chilling ambush.
The footage showed the teen briefly entering a vehicle before heading towards Telford Way. Seconds later, a BMW screeched up and four masked thugs armed with baseball bats sprung into action.
Masked Gang Launch Brutal Attack
Two attackers chased the teen out of shot beneath the bridge and savagely battered him. Hamid, behind the wheel, then sped off, abandoning the BMW later in Farley Hill, Luton.
The teenager was left with severe brain damage, his life irrevocably changed, despite intensive medical intervention.
Justice Delivered at Luton Crown Court
Already in custody on separate charges, Hamid faced Luton Crown Court where he was found guilty of conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm (GBH). He was slammed with a hefty 10 years and 9 months in prison.
Police hailed the investigation as “forceful and thorough,” warning others that “violent crimes will not be tolerated.”
