Two Men Admit Brutal Bottle Attack Outside Erdington Pub
A savage glass bottle assault in Erdington is set to land two men behind bars. West Midlands Police’s Operation Fearless swooped on the violent offenders, who have now pleaded guilty.
Brutal Attack Shocks Erdington
On the afternoon of July 2 last year, chaos erupted at a pub on Erdington High Street. Police raced to the scene after reports of a nasty disorder. A man had been seriously injured when struck with a glass bottle.
Officers launched an urgent probe, combing through CCTV footage to piece together the shocking attack and hunt down the assailants.
Assailants Caught Red-Handed
Detectives tracked down 35-year-old Omar Clarke and 59-year-old Herbert Palmer from the local area. CCTV showed Clarke pushing the victim before smashing a bottle over his head. Palmer then joined in with further vicious blows.
Both men were arrested and charged. Clarke pleaded guilty to Section 18 GBH and carrying an offensive weapon in public. Palmer admitted Section 20 GBH – assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
Jail Time Looms for Erdington Thugs
