Gosport Crack Dealer Curtis Long Jailed for Hauling £40k Heroin and Crack Stash
A 27-year-old Gosport man has landed behind bars after police found over £40,000 worth of heroin and crack cocaine in his car. Curtis Long’s days of dealing dangerous Class A drugs are now over.
Caught in the Act
On the evening of Thursday 4 January 2018, a PCSO spotted a black Audi A3 awkwardly reversing into another vehicle on The Firs, Gosport. This suspicious manoeuvre kicked off police enquiries that ended with a search of the Audi. Inside, officers seized a massive haul of individually wrapped heroin and crack cocaine, all primed for the streets.
Curtis Long Pleads Guilty
Long, from Southway, Gosport, was charged with possession with intent to supply. He pleaded guilty to both offences at Portsmouth Crown Court on Monday 26 March. Today (Wednesday 25 April), he was sentenced to 58 months in prison. A forfeiture and destruction order was also issued to ensure none of the drugs survive.
“This sentence has recognised that we have removed a significant amount of Class A drugs from the streets,” said investigating officer DC Angela Smith. “I’m pleased the court has sent a clear message that this activity won’t be tolerated. It’s a good example of Gosport’s Neighbourhood Policing Team working closely with our investigations team to keep our communities safe.”
Police Warn Communities to Stay Vigilant
Officers want locals to report any signs of drug dealing in their area. Keep an eye out for:
- Sudden spikes in visitors to a house with very short stays
- Quick handoffs or exchanges between small groups near homes
- Residents constantly leaving and returning multiple times a day
- Groups loitering and frequently using mobile phones
- New or hire cars parked close by, driven by unfamiliar people
If you see anything suspicious or suspect drug-related crime or antisocial behaviour in your neighbourhood, call your local Neighbourhood Policing Team on 101. For anonymous tips, ring Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
