Violent Theft at Priory Meadow M&S
The shocking incident took place on 27 January at the Marks and Spencer store in Priory Meadow Shopping Centre. The suspect tried to steal items and then assaulted a bystander, leaving the victim badly hurt and needing hospital care.
Technology Aids Quick Arrest
Ryan Etherton, 47, from Godwin Road, Hastings, was rapidly identified using the DISC system — an online platform linking local businesses to police via CCTV and real-time data sharing. He was arrested on 31 January and has admitted to assault causing actual bodily harm (ABH) and theft. Sentencing is set for 20 March at Hastings Magistrates’ Court.
