A brave young social worker who helped bring a grooming gang to justice has died in a horrific smash involving a souped-up BMW.

Sarah Fensom, 33, sustained fatal neck and spine injuries when a modified BMW lost control while overtaking on the wet A614 in Farnsfield, Nottinghamshire, on September 12, 2023.
Her Audi flipped onto its roof in the violent collision. After three days in hospital fighting for her life, Sarah tragically passed away, leaving behind a heartbroken family.
BMW Driver Jailed for Fatal Careless Driving
Lee Horsley, 31, the BMW driver, was found guilty at Nottingham Crown Court of causing Sarah’s death by careless driving. His car’s engine was boosted to a monstrous 397 brake horsepower, making it tough to control on the wet roads.
“Sarah was a daughter that every parent would have been proud of,” Judge Michael Auty KC read from Sarah’s father’s impact statement. “In those simple 12 words, Mr Fensom captures the life and value of a beautiful and beloved daughter he won’t see again.”
“Tragedy and incalculable human suffering can arise from a moment’s inattention or a poor decision. I do not regard you as an inherently dangerous individual. On that day you made a dreadful error of judgement.”
Horsley was locked up for 15 months and banned from driving for three years.

Witnesses saw the BMW “snaking” between lanes before smashing head-on into Sarah’s Audi. Though conscious after the crash, bystanders couldn’t free her from the overturned vehicle.
