Explosive Threat Sparks Rosedale Road Lockdown

Chaos hit Margate on Wednesday afternoon after bomb squads were called to a flat on Rosedale Road. At around 4pm on 8 October 2025, Kent Police responded to reports of suspicious, potentially dangerous items inside the property. An explosive ordnance disposal team from the Ministry of Defence arrived swiftly to assess the threat, with Kent Fire and Rescue crews backing them up.

Four Streets Locked Down, Hundreds Evacuated

Police didn’t take any chances. They cordoned off not just Rosedale Road but also the surrounding Glencoe Road, Wharfedale Road, and Malham Drive. Residents from these streets were hurriedly evacuated for safety. Thanet District Council stepped in to support those displaced, setting up a welfare hub at the nearby Hartsdown Leisure Centre.

One Person Arrested Amid Ongoing Probe

In a swift move, officers arrested an individual connected to the incident, who remains in custody as investigations ramp up. Authorities have yet to reveal further details but are keeping a close watch on the situation as forensic teams comb through evidence.
