Suspected Drug Dealer Busted with Cannabis Plants in Lympne
A 66-year-old man is set to face Crown Court after police uncovered a cannabis farm at a Lympne property.
Police Raid Uncovers Cannabis Grow Operation
Folkestone’s Community Policing Team swooped on a house in Lympne on Wednesday 16 September. They executed a warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act, seizing multiple cannabis plants along with growing equipment.
Man Charged and Released on Bail
Ian Mackenzie, from Octavian Drive, was charged with producing Class B drugs, possessing cannabis with intent to supply, and holding criminal property – including £6,000 in cash. The 66-year-old appeared via virtual link at Medway Magistrates’ Court on 17 September and was released on bail.
Next Hearing Set for October
Mackenzie’s case is due back in court on Thursday 15 October at Canterbury Crown Court.
Police Urge Public to Report Suspicious Activity
DI Dan Aylett from Folkestone CID said: “We ask people to be our eyes and ears for suspicious activity in their community. If you think drugs are being cultivated, used or dealt in your street, report it to Kent Police by calling 101 – or 999 if a crime is in progress. The information you give could be crucial in helping us to stop the criminals.”
