£90 Million Cocaine Haul Busted at Kent Port in Huge NCA Sting
1.2 Tonnes of Cocaine Seized at Sheerness
In a dramatic early morning raid, National Crime Agency (NCA) officers seized a massive 1.2 tonnes of cocaine at Sheerness port, Kent. Seven men were arrested and charged after a massive operation involving over 100 officers, including armed NCA units and Kent Police’s specialist firearms teams.
Insider at Port Exposed Drug Smuggling Plot
The NCA investigation uncovered a suspected organised crime group using a port insider to smuggle huge quantities of class A drugs into the UK. The cocaine was believed to have arrived from Costa Rica, cleverly concealed inside a shipment of bananas. Border Force and the port operator worked closely with the NCA for this bust.
£90 Million Street Value and Growing Threat
Jacque Beer, NCA Regional Head of Investigation, said:
“We targeted a dangerous gang intent on flooding the UK drugs market using insider contacts within the port. While rare, these insider threats are a huge risk to national security.
“Our operation stopped this shipment and helped dismantle the entire network. Thanks to all involved, including Kent Police, Border Force, and the port operator.”
This multi-agency strike sends a clear message: the UK border won’t be an easy gateway for dangerous criminals.
