Bulk Shop Thefts Rock Medway Towns
Between March 30 and June 30, 2024, multiple bulk thefts hit shops across Gillingham, Rainham, and Rochester. Crooks targeted well-known stores, making off with valuable goods.
Meat, Supplements, Clothing and More Swiped from Major Chains
Thieves stole hefty amounts of meat, health supplements, clothing, cleaning products, and sweets from Tesco, Holland & Barrett, the Co-op, and Poundland. The Medway Victim Based Crime Team launched a full investigation, including combing through CCTV footage to catch the culprits.
Man Arrested and Charged Over £650 in Stolen Goods
On July 5, police arrested Matthew Albert from Cherry Orchard Drive, Gillingham. He faces five counts of theft relating to these robberies. The stolen items were valued at over £650. Albert, 32, was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court on July 6.
