Base Jumper Stranded by Tide Sparks Dramatic Coastguard Rescue
Emergency teams scrambled just after midday when a base jumper got trapped on a beach by the incoming tide. The man, slammed for his reckless stunt, found himself stranded and in need of rescue.
RNLI Lifeboat Launches Daring Rescue
The Newhaven RNLI lifeboat was dispatched after coastal rescue crews deemed it too dangerous to reach him on foot. A lifeboat spokesman said, “Our RNLI volunteers were called out shortly after 12pm to reports of a person cut off.
The all-weather Severn class lifeboat arrived on scene and deployed a “Y” boat to reach the man sheltering on the rocks at the cliff base.
Coastguard Issues Stark Warning on Tide Awareness
Following the rescue, the coastguard urged the public to check tide times carefully, warning, “It could save your life.” Reckless behaviour near cliffs and tides continues to put lives at risk.
