Isle of Sheppey Man Admits to Making and Possessing Horrific Child Abuse Images

A 22-year-old man from the Isle of Sheppey has pleaded guilty to multiple charges of making and possessing indecent images of children. The disturbing case came to light after police seized electronic devices containing hundreds of horrific images.

Shocking Scale of Abuse Images Found

Benjamin Street, of Petunia Avenue, Minster on Sea, admitted to three charges relating to indecent images of children. Investigators uncovered:

  • 171 Category A images – the most severe level
  • 178 Category B images
  • 158 Category C images

In addition, he was found in possession of an extreme pornographic image involving children.

Police Action and Arrest

Prosecutor Chelsea Clarke revealed that Street was arrested on January 7 after police searched his home, acting on intelligence from the National Crime Agency. Three electronic devices were seized and analysed.

During questioning, Street claimed he obtained the images from Instagram.

The forensic examination revealed over 350 indecent images stored on his devices.

Magistrates Send Case to Crown Court

At a brief hearing at Medway Magistrates’ Court, Street pleaded guilty to all charges. Prosecutors told magistrates that the gravity of the offending warranted a custodial sentence starting at 12 months for possession of Category A images.

The magistrates agreed the six-month custody limit was inadequate and decided the case must be sentenced by the Crown Court.
