Man Nabbed in Southampton Grooming Sting to Face Crown Court
A 43-year-old man has been charged with attempted child grooming and sexual communication offences. Richard James Moore, from Newport, was arrested in Southampton following a police sting on Saturday.
Sting Operation Leads to Arrest
Police swooped on Portswood Road shortly after 2pm on January 6th after receiving a tip-off. Officers arrested Moore on suspicion of grooming a child and attempting to engage in sexual communication with a minor.
Held Without Bail Over Serious Charges
Moore appeared at Southampton Magistrates’ Court on Monday. Concerns over the nature of the charges and the risk of further offences saw magistrates refuse bail. He was remanded in custody and sent to prison.
Next Stop: Southampton Crown Court
Moore will face a plea and directions hearing at Southampton Crown Court on January 31st. Police remain vigilant as the investigation continues.
