Passenger Stabbed After ‘Game of Chicken’ Crash Shocks Quiet Herne Bay
A shocking stabbing left a passenger seriously injured after a bizarre early-morning crash on a sleepy Kent road. The driver, speaking exclusively, revealed he feared for his mate’s life following the incident on Stanley Road in Herne Bay just after 7am on Tuesday, 3rd May 2022.
Chaos on Stanley Road: White Car Crashes and Knives Drawn
The driver said a white car appeared to play a deadly game of chicken, hurtling towards them before smashing into a tree stump and flipping on its side. “It was the quietest road – I’ve lived here ten years and never seen anything like it,” he said.
Two men jumped out after the crash and sprinted across the junction. “Then a third man staggered out, pulled a knife, and stabbed my friend when he chased after them. There was so much blood, it was terrifying,” the driver added.
Police Hunt Trio After Violent Morning Incident
Kent Police were called at around 7.05am following a two-car collision and assault. Emergency services, including ambulance and fire crews, rushed to the scene. The stabbed man was rushed to a London hospital with serious injuries.
Officers have closed part of Stanley Road and an alley off Canterbury Road as the investigation continues. A second cordon is set up on Douglas Road while police hunt the three suspects who fled after the crash.
A Kent Police spokesperson said: “Officers attended Stanley Road following reports of a collision and assault. An investigation is ongoing and anyone with information should call 01843 222289 quoting reference 03-0150.”
Local Shocked by Rare Violence in Normally Quiet Area
The driver said he was only helping out his mate who was stuck at a garage nearby when the terrifying incident unfolded. “You’d expect this madness in Hackney, not Herne Bay. It’s just not what this area is about.”
He warned of the dangers of reckless driving, adding: “It was lucky it happened so early. If it was later, kids could have been on the road heading to school.”
