Arrogant Man Hides Knife on Train – Then Taunts Police Online

Kabelo Monyebudi, 30, from East Grinstead, thought he was clever. He stashed a knife in a bin on a train at Redhill station in Scotland and filmed himself pulling it out. Posting the clip on TikTok, he boasted smugly: “Got to be one step ahead of the boys in blue.”

Not So Slick: Knife Crime Catch Just Two Weeks Later

His cocky stunt blew up in his face. Just two weeks later, police spotted Monyebudi back in Redhill. He tried ditching the same distinctive knife in a hedge and made a desperate dash – but failed spectacularly. Cops arrested him for carrying a bladed article in public.

Sentenced for Two Offences – Dangerous Knife Destroyed

The TikTok brag was his downfall. Thanks to the unique knife and his own video, police linked him to both crimes. On 10 September, Monyebudi pleaded guilty at Guildford Crown Court to two counts of carrying a bladed weapon. He got a six-month suspended sentence, suspended for 18 months, plus a rehabilitation order. The dangerous knife was destroyed.

Police Warn: Knife Crime Myths Debunked

PC Oliver Dujardin of Reigate & Banstead Safer Neighbourhood Team said: “Monyebudi’s arrogance and blatant disregard for the law led to his swift arrest, charges, and court appearance.”

“Knife crime ruins lives, and anyone carrying one spreads fear in our communities.”

“Those carrying knives falsely believe they are safer. In truth, they are far more likely to fall victim themselves.”

“This case shows we take knife offences seriously. Carry a knife and we will pursue you relentlessly.”
