Levi Roots Joins Celebrity Big Brother Line-Up with a Bang!
Last night, 65-year-old culinary star Levi Roots sashayed into the Celebrity Big Brother House, rubbing shoulders with heavyweights like former X Factor judge Louis Walsh, Kate Middleton’s uncle Gary Goldsmith, Love Island’s Ekin Su Culculoglu, and TV legend Sharon Osbourne.
From Brixton Kitchen to Big Brother Fame
Levi Roots shot to fame thanks to his famous Reggae Reggae Sauce, born in his Brixton kitchen with a helping hand from his seven children. His journey began in 2006 when a BBC researcher spotted his culinary flair at the World Food Market. Despite his kids’ worries about the harsh spotlight, Levi took the gamble and appeared on Dragons’ Den.
Dragons’ Den Deal Catapulted Him to Superstardom
Defying the odds, Levi secured £50,000 and the support of millionaire Dragons Peter Jones and Richard Farleigh for a 40% stake in his business. With Peter Jones backing him, Reggae Reggae Sauce stormed onto Sainsbury’s shelves, turning Levi into a household name.
Jamaican Roots and Brixton Hustle
Born in Jamaica in 1958, Levi’s passion for cooking and music blossomed helping his grandmother in the kitchen and attending church. In the 1970s, he relocated to Brixton, where he made waves selling his sauce at the iconic Notting Hill Carnival.
From Bank Rejections to Royal Honours
After 16 years of bank rejections and business snubs, Levi’s grit paid off big time. He’s been invited to 10 Downing Street, launched a TV series, released a studio album, and toured schools to inspire the next generation.
His tireless efforts earned him an Honorary Fellowship at the Royal Agricultural University for his impact on entrepreneurship and food.
“If a black Brixtonian Rastafarian can make it with just a sauce, then you can make it too,” Levi proudly declared, paying tribute to his humble Jamaican roots and saintly grandmother.
