Early Morning Blaze Rocks Luton Flat – One Dead, Several Hospitalised
A serious fire tore through a flat in Green Court, Luton, at around 4am on Thursday, forcing the evacuation of residents by emergency crews.
One Fatality Confirmed, Others Injured
Bedfordshire Police revealed one person sadly died at the scene. A small number of others – including residents and police officers – were rushed to hospital for treatment. All occupants have been accounted for.
“A small number of people including residents and police officers have been taken to hospital for treatment, and sadly one person has been confirmed to have died at the scene,” a police spokesperson said.
“All occupants have been accounted for. Work is ongoing at the site and several areas have been cordoned off as investigations continue.”
Authorities Urge Caution As Investigation Continues
Police asked the public not to speculate or share images of the fire, warning it could cause distress to those involved. Regular updates will be provided as the investigation unfolds.
The force is collaborating with Luton Council and Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service to support evacuated residents while the building is made safe.
Firefighters Battle Intense Flames, Extinguish Blaze
Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service deployed 10 appliances to tackle the fire. They confirmed the blaze has now been fully extinguished, with crews checking for hotspots to prevent flare-ups.
The fire investigation team remains on-site to probe the cause of the devastating fire.
