Drug Kingpin Locked Up for 18 Years in Calderdale Crackdown
Khumran Mohammed Taj, 41, has been slammed with an 18-year prison sentence for masterminding a major Class A drug ring in the Calderdale area. The bombshell verdict dropped at Bradford Crown Court last Thursday, following Taj’s conviction for conspiring to supply deadly drugs across West Yorkshire and Luton.
Massive Raids Lead to Major Drug Bust
Taj’s January 2022 arrest was a game-changer in the fight against drug crime locally. Police raided properties in Halifax and Luton, uncovering a huge stash of Class A narcotics. The bust resulted in numerous charges against Taj, including possession with intent to supply and conspiracy to distribute.
Accomplice Gets Jail Time Too
Also caught in the dragnet was Craig Collins, 48, of Illingworth, who was handed 20 months behind bars for his part in the conspiracy.
Police Send a Stark Warning to Drug Dealers
“Taj was the principal member of an organised crime group (OCG) who was responsible for supplying a large quantity of Class A drugs within the Calderdale area,” said Detective Constable Chris Bailey from the Calderdale District Precision Team.
“I hope that this sentencing sends a clear message to those involved in the supply of illegal drugs in the Calderdale area, that we are actively pursuing you and will continue to work with our partners to bring you before the courts.”
