Shock in Starks as Man Fires at Kids Playing Hide and Seek
In the early hours of May 7, Calcasieu Parish deputies were called to a Starks home following a shooting incident.
Teen Girl Shot in Head During Game
Officers found a 14-year-old girl with a gunshot wound to the back of her head. She was quickly taken to a hospital out of town with non-life-threatening injuries.
Man Fired at Shadows, Hit Girl by Mistake
Detectives learned several juveniles had been playing hide and seek near a neighbour’s property. When police spoke to property owner David V. Doyle, 58, he said he saw shadows outside his home. Doyle went inside, grabbed his firearm, then went back outside and started shooting at what he thought were trespassers. Unfortunately, he hit the girl by mistake.
Arrest Made as Investigation Continues
- Doyle was arrested and charged with aggravated battery.
- He faces 4 counts of aggravated assault with a firearm.
- He is also charged with illegal discharge of a firearm.
- His bond status is currently pending.
