Knife-Wielding Hate Crime Shakes Golders Green

Charged with Affray and Knife Possession
Abdullah faces serious charges including affray and possession of a bladed article in a public place. He is due in custody at 1 Green Magistrates’ Court for his hearing.
Rapid Police Response After Knife Incident
The drama unfolded on Hamilton Road at around 1:27pm when police were called to reports of a man brandishing a knife. Officers arrived within six minutes and arrested Abdullah within 10, swiftly bringing the situation under control.
Chief Superintendent Sara Leach, who oversees north-west policing, stressed the impact on the local Jewish community. She confirmed the attack is being treated as a hate crime, with “significant resources” dedicated to the investigation.
Leach praised “brave members of the public” who stepped in before police arrived, highlighting the community’s vital role.
Specialist Teams Lead Hate Crime Probe
Detectives from the Community Safety Unit are handling the case, with support from the Metropolitan Police’s Counter Terrorism Command, who have assessed the situation but currently do not treat it as terrorism-related.
