Man Charged Over Teen Alfie Brown’s Death Nearly Two Years After Fatal Crash
A heart-wrenching case has taken a twist as a man has been charged almost two years after 13-year-old Alfie Brown was killed while cycling home in Swafield, near North Walsham, Norfolk.
James Durham Charged With Dangerous Driving
James Durham, 54, from Goodwin Road, Mundesley, is now formally charged with causing death by dangerous driving following the tragedy on August 10, 2023.
Alfie was on his bike when he was struck by a white Ford Ranger. Sadly, the young teenager died instantly at the scene.
Long Wait for Justice
Durham was initially arrested the day of the collision on suspicion of dangerous driving and failing to stop. He was later released under investigation. Norfolk Police have confirmed that he is scheduled to appear before Norwich Magistrates’ Court on August 1, 2025.
Family’s Emotional Tribute
Alfie’s aunt, Emma Brown, described her nephew as “adventurous, intelligent, beautiful,” calling his death a devastating hit-and-run tragedy.
“Life will never be the same without him. He will always be in our hearts,” Emma said.
A GoFundMe page launched by Alfie’s family raised over £15,000 in funeral support and drew hundreds of messages from mourners nationwide.
