Man Jailed for Murder After Brutal Stabbing of Girlfriend in Her Own Home

Mark Sinclair, 31, has been found guilty of murder following a savage attack on his girlfriend, Kylie Dembrey, in Theale. The jury reached a unanimous verdict at Reading Crown Court today (12/3), bringing a grim end to the chilling case.

Sinclair’s Brutal Attack in Theale

On the early hours of Thursday, 6 September 2018, Sinclair launched a violent assault on Kylie at her Blossom Lane home. He then shocked police by calling them at 12.50am to confess: “I have killed my girlfriend.”

Police arrived swiftly to discover Kylie gravely injured with multiple stab wounds to her neck and chest. Despite desperate attempts, she was pronounced dead at the scene. Sinclair was immediately arrested and charged with murder the next day.

Jury Rejects Sinclair’s Mental Health Defence

Sinclair tried to dodge full responsibility by citing mental health issues and claiming diminished responsibility. But the jury saw through the defence, ruling that his actions were driven by uncontrolled rage. Detective Inspector Dejan Avramovic said:

“Sinclair subjected Kylie to a vicious assault, which left her with fatal injuries. He then contacted police and remained at the scene, showing no remorse. This was a brutal, unprovoked attack in her own home.”

Community and Family Left Reeling

DI Avramovic reassured locals that this horrific crime was an isolated event with no wider threat. He praised Kylie’s family for their courage in enduring the court process and urged the public to respect their privacy during this painful time.

“This conviction brings some measure of justice and hopefully peace for Kylie’s family. Sinclair will now serve a lengthy prison sentence for this callous crime.”

The tragic story highlights the deadly consequences of domestic violence and the urgent need for awareness and support to prevent future heartbreak.
