Leonard Clarke, behind the wheel of a Volkswagen Golf, made a desperate dash from police on Tuesday evening in Fratton. But his wild getaway crashed to a halt when his car smashed into traffic lights and railings on Lake Road.

Clarke didn’t just cause chaos on the road – he’s now been charged with drink driving. The driver was arrested at the scene after the collision left railings mangled.

Leonard Clarke is due to appear at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court on October 27 to face the charges.
