Man in 60s Slashed with Machete Before Falling from Balcony in New Wanstead

Police were scrambled to The Herons in New Wanstead at 6.09pm on Friday, 21 January after reports a man had fallen from height.

Officers found a man in his 60s with a serious head injury. He was rushed to hospital where his condition is critical but stable.

Violent Attack Sparks Balcony Fall

Initial enquiries reveal two men forced their way into the victim’s home. The elderly man was attacked with a machete before falling from the balcony.

A woman in her 20s, known to the victim, was also found injured. She suffered a back injury, believed to be from climbing down the same balcony, and was helped into a nearby property. Her condition is not life-threatening.

Crime Scene Maintained as Police Hunt Suspects

Officers are piecing together what happened. No arrests have been made yet. The area remains cordoned off as detectives investigate.
