Two Teens Held Over Brutal Worthing Stabbing
Two teenage boys have been remanded in custody after a shocking stabbing in Worthing town centre left a 16-year-old fighting for his life.
Knife Attack in Worthing Leaves Boy Critical
The violent incident happened on Liverpool Road around 5.30pm on Monday, February 13. The victim suffered life-threatening wounds and remains in hospital in a serious condition.
Police swiftly made five arrests linked to the attack and have ramped up high-visibility patrols in Worthing’s town centre to calm public fears.
Custody for Two Charged Teens
Following their arrests on February 14, a 15-year-old and a 16-year-old have been charged with wounding with intent, affray, and possession of a knife in a public place. They appeared before Crawley Magistrates’ Court on February 16 and were remanded in custody awaiting their next hearing.
Police Clampdown on Anti-Social Behaviour
Sussex Police used Section 60 powers allowing officers to search people without suspicion, aiming to stop further violence. Although a previous Section 60 order has ended, a Section 34 dispersal order is still active, letting police move troublemakers on for 48 hours.
“This has been a fast-paced investigation where officers have worked hard to identify suspects involved and make arrests,” said West Sussex local policing Superintendent Nick Dias. “We continue to appeal for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.”
“We are working closely with partners including Worthing District Council and Children’s Services to keep the community safe.”
Further Arrests and Ongoing Inquiries

- Another 13-year-old arrested on February 13 for conspiracy to cause grievous bodily harm has also been bailed.
- A 17-year-old arrested for the same offence has been released without charge.
