Man in 60s Critically Injured After Machete Attack and Balcony Plunge in New Wanstead
Machete Attack Shocks Quiet Residential Block
Police were scrambled at 6.09pm on Friday, 21 January to a residential block in The Herons, New Wanstead, after reports of a man falling from height.
Officers arrived to find a man in his 60s with a serious head injury. He was rushed to hospital, where his condition remains critical but stable.
Violent Break-In Ends in Harrowing Balcony Fall
Investigations reveal two men forced their way into the property. The victim was attacked with a machete before plunging from the building’s balcony.
A woman in her 20s, known to the victim, was also found injured at the scene. She suffered a back injury, believed to have been sustained while climbing down the same balcony. She was helped into a nearby property and her injuries are not life-threatening.
Police Launch Full Investigation, No Arrests Yet
A crime scene is still in place as police work to piece together the attack.
“Enquiries are ongoing, and there have been no arrests at this time,” a spokesperson confirmed.
