Lewes Man Jailed for Attempting to Meet Fake 13-Year-Old Girl

Robin Mays, 49, travelled 330 miles from Lewes, near Brighton, to meet a supposed 13-year-old girl for sex. But when he arrived, he quickly realised the girl wasn’t real. The account was a trap set by the Guardians of the North, a group targeting predators.

Mays Tried to Hide His Intentions

While on his trip, Mays removed his wedding ring. When questioned, he said he “was in a mess and needed someone” to explain why he arranged to meet the child.

Police Arrest and Court Sentence

Police were alerted and arrested Mays shortly after. At court on Thursday, he was sentenced to:

  • 12 months imprisonment for attempting to meet a child
  • 8 weeks for possessing pornographic images, including those of animals
  • 8 weeks for possessing category B and C images of children
  • 10 years sexual harm prevention order

The case sends a strong warning to predators thinking they can get away with targeting children online.
