Drug Dealer Locked Up for 30 Months After Police Sting in Horley
Rory Newton Busted with Cocaine and Cannabis
A 26-year-old man from Horley has been sentenced to 30 months behind bars after pleading guilty to possession with intent to supply cocaine. Rory Newton, of Victoria Road, also admitted to possession of cannabis and drug driving when he appeared at Guildford Crown Court on 13 May.
Police Arrest Following Suspicious Car Stop
Newton was caught by officers in Consort Way on 13 September 2018 getting out of a blue Mini. He refused to give his details, prompting a search of his vehicle. Police found a herbal cannabis substance, two bags of white powder suspected to be cocaine, a burner phone, and drug paraphernalia.
Roadside drug tests confirmed Newton had been driving under the influence of cannabis. The phone revealed incriminating messages linked to drug dealing.
Police Praise Public for Helping Nab Dealer
“Searches of Newton, his car and his address revealed clear evidence that he was involved in the supply of class A drugs,” said PC Steve Ellis, lead investigator. “The fact that he is now behind bars means he can no longer poison our streets. We hope this sentence sends a strong message to anyone involved in drug dealing targeting our communities.”
“Information from the public is vital in tackling drug crime. If you suspect drug dealing, get in touch,” added PC Ellis.
